To All My Ragtime Customers,
I would like to take a moment at the start of 2022 to reflect briefly on what Ragtime has meant to me. Every day, for the past 19 years, the store has been an amazing opportunity for me to explore the craft and sewing industry, learn the ins and outs of business maintenance and stay relatively fit due to heavy lifting and lots of daily steps! However, it has been the people I have encountered-from vendors to employees to customers-who have made each and every day a remarkable experience in so many ways.
I feel as though I have made and nurtured friendships that may not have happened without Ragtime Fabrics. I have traveled through life’s ups and downs with many of you and you have been there for me. We have experienced delightful newborn baby quilts, beautiful wedding attire and precious memory teddy bears and pillows together. Each and every project has been unique, most of them incredibly creative and expressive-even the dreaded zipper replacement!
Through the years, the staff has taught many of you, young and young at heart, how to sew and enjoy the craft. It is a thrill to see the passion begin and develop in so many of you. One day, I may learn to sew! (This used to be a well-kept secret!)
Ragtime Fabrics has been my happy place and dear to my heart. Over the past couple of years, changes in my life have made it more challenging to be the sole owner of the store. I have reached the difficult decision to retire from Ragtime this Spring. I am working with the Tacony Corporation, our Baby Lock sewing machine company, to retain a Baby Lock presence in our area. It would be my dream come true that Ragtime Fabrics could stay open as it has always been-an inspirational store that offers quality sewing supplies at affordable pricing. However, for me, it is time to downsize the store and offer great deals, while supplies last. My goal of retirement from Ragtime is April 2022.
I am at peace with this decision but feel deep sadness that I will miss the daily joy Ragtime brings me. I know others will feel the same way. I have lost track of how many times I have heard a first-time customer exclaim “I am in heaven!” when they walk into Ragtime Fabrics.
I want to thank each of you for making Ragtime what it has become. I especially want to thank my dear husband, Casey.
